From My Diary: Oh, my God! I am beautiful.

"Beauty lies in the eyes

of the beholder."

In the tender moments spent with my little granddaughter YAHRAA, a fluttering butterfly of joy, I find solace in her innocent admiration. Despite the disfigurement inflicted by cancer and the aging process, she adorns me with fanciful clips and hairbands, believing I radiate beauty. The reality, known to all adults, contrasts starkly with her perception - my hair is gray and scant, and colorful nighties cannot enhance my appearance. Yet, in her eyes, I remain attractive.

Her insistence on making me sing, urging, "Once more," exposes my lack of vocal prowess. With a croaking, shaky voice, my songs likely sound dreadful. Nevertheless, to her, I am P. Susheela incarnate. When weaving impromptu stories, I become her Aesop. The food I offer magically transforms in her perspective, becoming tastier, and the drinks turn sweeter in my withering hands.

For me, in the midst of life's bitterness, her presence fills my cup with overflowing joy and love. The morning is brightened by her infectious smile, and her whimsical demands straighten my weary frame, compelling me to move with purpose.

Reflecting on these precious moments, I am reminded of Jesus's wisdom: "Be like little children." Being like a child, allows us to find beauty in everything, and spread happiness without discrimination. By cherishing the inherent beauty in everyone, we can create a world of boundless joy. If we all adopt the innocence of children, the kingdom of God could be ours, making the world a happier place for all.
