Look Up & Be Healed : A Symbolic Act in the Past

"Look up and be healed" Moses said of the hoisted serpent

The Israelites in the wilderness,
Were weary, sick, and worn,
With serpents all around them,
Their bodies, too, were torn.

But Moses had a message,
A promise of relief,
"Look up and be healed,"
He said, and brought belief.

He hoisted up a serpent,
A symbol of their pain,
And all who gazed upon it,
Found healing in its name.

For in that lifted serpent,
Was a symbol of their sin,
A sign of all their frailty,
Their weakness deep within.

When they looked up to it,
And raised their eyes above,
They found a path to healing,
Through God's redeeming love.

So look up and be healed,
Let the serpent be a sign,
That in God's endless mercy,
We can leave our sins behind.

Manna and Quail Lesson in Gratitude.

In the wilderness, the Israelites did roam
Their hunger grew, as they wandered alone
But from the heavens, a gift did descend
Manna from God, their hunger to end

Each morning they'd rise, and gather their share
A sweet, flaky bread, with blessings to spare
It sustained them through their journey long
And gave them strength, to keep moving on

The people grew restless, and craved for more
So God sent quail, from the sea and the shore
They feasted and ate, until they were full
Soon they realized, their bellies were dull

For they had forgotten, the manna above
The gift of God's love, sent down with love
And though quail was delicious, it could not compare
To the heavenly manna, that had been so rare

So let us remember, the lesson they learned
That when we are given, gifts should never be spurned
For God provides, in ways great and small
And in our gratitude, we find the greatest of all.
