Heaven-sent Blessing

A sure symptom of senility is nostalgia. When faculties fail, one draws sustenance and nourishment from memories of (good old / bad old) past that all of a sudden begins to glow with splendour and glory. Though the body gives way, there are moments when imagination catches huge marlins like that of Hemingway's old man. However, the mind fails to bring home even a skeleton for children to appreciate or admire.
Even when strength falls and accomplishments roll back to zero, the heart leaps up and rejoices when love pops up from close quarters. Such an experience became mine when I saw two posts - one on FB & the other in Instagram- both from my sons on a day which the family thought was worthy of celebration. When they gathered around a thoughtfully designed Bible-shaped white cake with "Little Lamb on the Lord's Lap" decorated on it, sang a song, and enjoyed- the cake that melted into their mouths, to me, it became a heaven-sent blessing that ought to be treasured in my blog.
