"Everything has a place and everything should be in its place ".
During a college seminar years ago, a priest asked the staff to share a lasting thought. Ms. Ruby Samraj recalled her mother's (Ms. Moses was our Physical Directress) repeated dictum: "Everything has a place, and everything should be in its place." I still remember and hold it dear to my heart.
The literal meaning of the statement is about organizing and arranging things appropriately. On a practical level, it emphasizes the importance of keeping physical spaces organized. For instance, a tidy workspace promotes productivity, and a well-arranged home creates a sense of calm and serenity.
On a deeper level, it implies order, harmony, and a sense of purpose.
Beyond the physical level, it hints at emotional balance. Each emotion has its place, and expressing them appropriately at the right time contributes to mental well-being. Suppressing emotions can cause disasters.
In social contexts, it implies that every individual plays a unique role in society, and when everyone fulfills his / her responsibilities, harmony is achieved. This principle is reflected in teamwork, where each member contributes to the overall success.
It aligns with the idea of finding one's purpose or calling in life. Each person has a unique "place" or role to fulfill, and accepting this contributes to a meaningful and purposeful existence.
