One year has elapsed, leaving behind overwhelming emotional distress. However, God's merciful presence was felt every moment.
This birthday went unnoticed by many; a handful were reminded by Facebook. The wishes varied from grateful to resentful. Some wishes felt obligatory and some wishes were formal.
A select few were unmistakably heartfelt. The message that touched me most was from Sr. Doris, who celebrated the occasion with her finely tuned language. I cherish it not only for its linguistic beauty but also for the heartfelt sentiments expressed.
Sometimes, the weary heart simply needs a gentle pat.
Here it is:
I am greeting someone on her birthday
Someone who has navigated life's most difficult terrains;
someone whose raw courage in life's battle is so inspirational;
someone whose faith in God is invincible;
someone who is multi talented and whose crisp voice always had a magnetic spell on us the students;
someone whose sweet and golden voice and fine accent were a treat;
someone who loved her alma mater, and still ploughs on...
You deserve the finest in life.
So it is my pleasure to wish you an abundance of blessings on this sacred day.
Happy happy birthday dearest Latha, my teacher, colleague and friend.

The lines that brought me nearly identical joy were those penned by my son Ajith, in 2020, and I'm eager to leave them here on my blog.
